Since 2010 The Museum Complex of Santa Maria delle Anime del Purgatorio Ad Arco is managed by the Association Progetto Museo, that guarantees the opening to the public of the Underground Church and of the Museum. Progetto Museo is also in charge of the guided tours, the educational tours for schools, managing also the visitor center, extraordinary openings and the organization of any cultural event.

Progetto Museo is an association founded in 1998 by a group of art historians working also in the field of heritage preservation, management and communication. With more of 20 years of experience, Progetto Museo is a high standard model of private no profit association able to support public institutions in the field of museum education and heritage promotion, combining high quality services with the satisfaction of its collaborators. Progetto Museo mission is:

  • To standardize museum hospitality systems and to develop new museum hospitality models;
  • To develop education projects for museum and cultural sites;
  • To develop and encourage collaboration between Schools and Cultural Institutions, in order to offer new opportunities to young citizens that, today more than ever, need to be stimulated and supported in their civil and cultural growth;
  • To collaborate with schools that want to develop education projects for their students in the field of cultural heritage;
  • To support and to collaborate with associations and no profit organization that share a similar mission in order to build networks;
  • To invest in the continuous training of its collaborators and of all the professional categories that have relations with the public of museums and cultural institutions.


Since 2000, Progetto Museo, together with Le Nuvole Casa del Contemporaneo, works with Museums that now are included in the Polo Museale della Campania (Museo e Certosa di San Martino, Museo Nazionale della Ceramica Duca di Martina, Museo Diego Aragona Pignatelli Cortes, Castel Sant’Elmo) and of the Museo e Real Bosco di Capodimonte to develop education programs addressed to all the possible categories of public.

Since 2001, Progetto Museo, in agreement with the Opera Pia Purgatorio ad Arco, is in charge of the opening of the Museum Complex of Santa Maria delle Anime del Purgatorio ad Arco and of the education program as well as of the organization and development of the cultural events program. Since 2003, it is in charge of some education programs for schools and of the ticket and welcome office of the Pio Monte della Misericordia.

Progetto Museo collaborated and still collaborates to projects developed with the Fine Arts Academy of Naples, Cappella Sansevero, Music Conservatory of San Pietro a Majella of Naples. In 2014 Progetto Museo developed the project AAA Accogliere Ad Arte aimed at promoting the sites of culture and art of the city of Naples as well as at creating awareness of the richness of the city’s heritage in those professional categories that are directly or indirectly involved in welcoming visitors, such as policemen and taxi drivers.

AAA Accogliere Ad Arte is supported and developed by a network of museums and cultural institutions of Naples, including: Catacombe di San Gennaro, Santa Maria delle Anime del Purgatorio ad Arco, Museo Filangieri, Museo delle Arti Sanitarie e Farmacia Storica negli Incurabili, Pio Monte della Misericordia, Museo e Real Bosco di Capodimonte, Museo Archeologico Nazionale di Napoli, Gallerie d’Italia Palazzo Zevallos Stigliano, Museo Cappella Sansevero, Il Cartastorie Museo Archivio Storico del Banco di Napoli.

Since January 2017, Progetto Museo is partner of the Education Department of the Museo e Real Bosco di Capodimonte, being in charge of the development and of the coordination of the educational programs addressed to all the possible categories of public and, since 2018, it is in charge of the information and welcome desk.

Since May 2017, in collaboration with Arte’m and under the direction of Scabec Spa, Progetto Museo is in charge of the redaction, development and coordination of the Education Department of the Museo MADRE. Since September 2017, under the direction of Fondazione MorraIstituto di Scienze delle Comunicazioni Visive, is in charge of education projects addressed to all the possible categories of public of the Museo Archivio Laboratorio per le Arti Contemporanee Hermann Nitsch and of Casa Morra.

Progetto Museo is one of the members of the Via Duomo Cultural District, funded to promote the museums of the heart of Naples city center and participated to the creation of the network “Via Duomo. La via dei Musei”. Progetto Museo is an important consultant in the field of museum education for many Neapolitan and Italian Cultural Associations (Amici dei Musei, Amici di Capodimonte, AMACI, Touring Club Italiano, Garden Club, FAI, Goethe- Institut Neapel).

Progetto Museo has agreements with several universities for developing internships for students as well as workshops for teachers and official tour guides.

Progetto Museo currently is made of more that 20 art historians and archaeologists and it generates work and projects without any permanent funding by any public institution.
